A Warm Welcome! Valentine's Day was a lot of fun at Discovery School! Our class party was an idea carried over from last year to create a theme based on our literature unit. The children created their boxes with a Charlotte's Web theme, we had a feast (manure piles(no baked cookies), Zuckerman's slop (Chex Mix), Wilbur's in a blanket, Charlotte cake, and Lemonade from the fair,) and a game of toss the pencils into the slop bucket. After school, we had the first ever Cupid's Carnival! We had Bingo, dancing, facepainting, cookie decorating, a craft, and a lot of family fun! Part of the money earned was donated to the American Heart Association. Discovery has a big Heart! _It was Shadow Day at Discovery School. This means each class gets to move up to the next grade to see what it will be like the next year. I was excited to have the second graders come next door to explore and ask questions. We used our shadows to create silhouettes of ourselves. Each child then chose their favorite color and wrote awesome adjectives about themselves and each other so I could get to know them better. We also played an awesome game of spiral multiplication. You can find this game here: http://www.education.com/activity/article/spiral/ _ “Mangia! Come Enjoy a
